My Acupuncture Practice

Acupuncture can be practiced in different ways. I use very thin solid metal needles that I insert into the skin. These needles are used one time and then discarded (as medical waste). I use diagnostic and treatment techniques from Japanese acupuncture and Chinese acupuncture. I also occasionally use Korean hand acupuncture. (I do not prescribe herbs though herbal therapy is a major part of how Traditional Chinese Medicine is practiced in China.)

I often use moxibustion, or heat therapy, along with acupuncture. The type of moxa therapy that I practice is the burning of an herb, mugwort, on the head of a needle. The heat is transmitted down the needle and produces a mild to moderate warming sensation. Occasionally I burn the moxa directly on the skin but remove it before it burns the skin.
